New studios and/or filmmakers have challenges finding a path to market. Distribution is a very difficult side of the film industry and takes those who have been part of the sales side of the business to navigate. Fortunately, Fall Line will not have such challenges as it has compiled the best in sales and film buying to ensure our pipeline is in line for theatrical sales as well as other channels.
Fall Line will distribute content, direct to theaters as either a platform release planned for up to 500+ carefully targeted locations or a wide release within locations in the US and across Canada based on individual strategic plan per title.
Once Release Dates have been set, Exhibitor screenings have concluded, Play Date discussions with targeted Exhibitors are complete, then screen commitments will begin.
A successful theatrical release is dependent on three key factors:
Movie Theaters historically pay between 30-45% of its ticket sales to the independent movie studio in an agreement we refer to as film terms which we will negotiate. Typically, these terms are settled before the release date. However, in some situations, there may be need to settle once the all in gross is reported based on a scale.
The beginning percentage has potential to decrease as the duration of a film’s showing continues. This strategy operates as an incentive to theaters to keep products on screen longer.
About 95% of all box office tickets for a film are sold within the first two weeks after initial entry in the market.
Once the film opens, our sales teams will connect with the assigned Exhibitor rep to discuss film performance, and begin the collection process.
Locate premium theater locations based on historical data and comparable titles. Generated by Rentrak (Box Office Essentials), this data will determine gross potential and help target markets.
Coordinate targeted markets with marketing to ensure P&A efforts are aligned.
Fall Line Ent. evaluates the marketplace, locating optimal timing for the film’s release in box office while identifying the release date of similar titles and availability of screen time based on time of year. It is imperative that we create as much runway in the marketplace to allow your film to grow its awareness through word of mouth while allowing time to accumulate a higher gross success in the box office.
Attendance at major regional conferences and industry events is extremely important to the placement of the film. It’s imperative that we present content images and planning directly to the buyers as far in advance as possible in order to maintain a competitive edge. We will represent our client’s content at each of these events in order to ensure maximum awareness of the product to the buyers.
